About Dr. April
For more than 40 years, I've had the privilege of caring for animals and getting to know the people who love them. Throughout my career, one belief has remained constant: every animal deserves to be seen as an individual, and every family deserves to feel heard.
My Story
I began my career in conventional veterinary medicine with a deep appreciation for science, compassionate care, and the remarkable bond between people and their animals. Helping injured and ill animals recover has always been one of the greatest joys of my profession.
As the years passed, I began seeing more animals struggling with chronic conditions—recurring skin disease, ear infections, digestive disorders, arthritis, diabetes, behavioral concerns, and other illnesses that often seemed interconnected rather than isolated. Although conventional medicine offers invaluable and often lifesaving care, I found myself asking different questions about why these patterns developed and whether there was a better way to understand the whole patient.
That curiosity led me to explore therapy laser, acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, nutrition, craniosacral therapy, Reiki, and ultimately veterinary homeopathy. Each discipline expanded my understanding of healing, but over time homeopathy became the modality that most closely aligned with the way I had come to understand health and disease.
My Philosophy
Healing begins long before a remedy is chosen. It begins when someone takes the time to truly listen.
Why Homeopathy?
What drew me most deeply to homeopathy was its gentle, individualized approach. Rather than focusing primarily on a diagnosis, homeopathy asks us to understand the physical, emotional, behavioral, and environmental aspects of each patient.
I also value the partnership it creates with families. No one knows your animal the way you do. Your observations, experiences, and intuition become an important part of understanding what your animal is trying to communicate and helping guide the healing process.
How I Practice
My goal is to create a space where questions are always welcome and thoughtful conversations are encouraged. Many families arrive with questions they’ve hesitated to ask about nutrition, environmental influences, or integrative options because they worried about being judged. I want every client to feel comfortable asking questions, exploring possibilities, and making informed decisions together.
I believe the best care comes from collaboration—not only between veterinarian and caregiver, but also with your primary veterinarian whenever appropriate. My goal is always to complement, not replace, the important relationship you already have with your veterinary team.
A Little More About Me
In addition to veterinary homeopathy, my professional background includes integrative medicine, acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, nutrition, ozone therapy, and other complementary approaches. Each has contributed to the way I think about healing, but all are guided by the same philosophy: thoughtful observation, individualized care, and respect for the unique needs of every patient.
I continue to learn because I believe our understanding of health should never stop evolving. Every patient teaches me something new, and it is a privilege to walk alongside families as they seek the very best for the animals they love.
